MEAC (Mansfield Educational Arts Council) enrichment programs are sponsored annually by MESA. MESA spends over $15,000 every year to bring exciting STEAM assemblies to all of the students.

On February 28, March 1 and March 3, our 2nd Grade students were visited by the Discovery Museum in Acton, MA and learned about Physical Changes of Matter!  Investigating the physical properties of solids, liquids and gasses has never been so much fun! In this workshop, dry ice and liquid nitrogen make learning the phase changes very dramatic as together they changed liquid water to gas, shattered flowers and rubber bands, used a banana as a hammer, and even shrank solid metal in just a few seconds.

On March 2 and 3, the Pilgrims came to visit our 5th Grade classes.  The pilgrim portrayed a resident of 1624 Plimoth Colony.  The pilgrim spoke with a regional, English dialect of the 17th century and wore accurate reproduction clothing to bring the world of Pilgrims to life. Using reproduction artifacts to enhance the classroom's experience, the pilgrim shared their story, from hiring the Mayflower in England, through the journey and the first winter, to Thanksgiving in Plymouth. As a highlight of the program, several students were invited to try on Colonial clothing!

On March 3, the 4th Grade classes were visited by Wingmasters who taught their knowledge and appreciation of birds of prey.  The students were introduced to different type of birds of prey, owls and falcons.  The students saw these live birds of prey up close and learned about the special features these birds have that enable them to be successful predators, as well as viewing various artifacts.
